This International Women’s Day, the Global Connections for Women Foundation (GC4W) is undertaking the important task of celebrating the accomplishments of women leaders, whose remarkable journey has made a tremendous impact on the social economic growth of women today. The International Women’s Day celebrates the social, political and economic achievements of women, while focusing the world’s attention on areas requiring further action.

The Global Connections for Women foundation (GC4W) celebrates International Women’s Day on March 7th 2014, at the world renowned Harvard Club of New York City in the United States.

The Honorable Chair of Global Connections for Women foundation, Chief Temitope Ajayi (Mama Diaspora), the GC4W Founder/CEO, Ambassador Lilian O. Ajayi and the GC4W foundation will award several prominent and distinguished international women leaders for their commitment to women empowerment and leadership in advancing gender equality in their community.

By recognizing these distinguished women leaders on such a momentous occasion as International Women’s Day, GC4W foundation hope to not only bring attention to the key contributions these women are making to communities around the world – but also unearth that there exists ample opportunity for better advancements and equality for women.

The GC4W foundation “Global Women Champion” honorees include prominent global women leaders, Nobel Peace Laureate, Ambassadors, CEOs, NGO leaders, Government officials, Magazine Editors, GC4W Champions, and several others. The purpose of this award is to recognize, celebrate and encourage the noble work of these exemplary women leaders – who are committed to the global advancement of women and continue to make a significant impact in the lives of others.

In recognition of the achievements of the Rural Women Energy Security (RUWES) Project in empowering and sensitizing rural women on clean and healthy energy practices that impact positively on health, ecosystem and the environment, the RUWES Project which has affected millions of Nigerian women and with the potential to scale up to reach more women even across the borders of Nigeria in meeting the MDGs and Sustainable Energy for All initiatives has been nominated for the Awards.

In view of the above, the brain behind the RUWES Project is being honoured by the Global Connections for Women Foundation (GC4W) Awards in undertaking the important task of celebrating the accomplishments of women leaders, whose remarkable journey has made a tremendous impact on the social economic growth of women today. Engr.(Mrs.) Bahijjahtu Abubakar has been invited to receive this Award and make a power point presentation on the activities of the RUWES Project.
